ON 90-ACRE MAPLE CREST FARM
in Brecksville, Ohio, Meredith (the
mother, 70-something) and Stacey
(the daughter, 50) work, teach,
train, and compete together.
Maple Crest Farm has been
family-owned for seven generations.
Established in
1824, it was originally a dairy
farm. Four-legged horsepower
ran the farm when
Meredith was growing up. At
a very early age, she learned
to drive teams of horses from
the hayfield to the barn and
back and drive the wagon to the
thrasher. “Of course, those horses
knew exactly what to do, where to go,
and when to stop,” she confesses.
